A dipthong is a sound formed by the combination of two vowels in a single syllable, in which the sound begins as one vowel and moves towards another.

Tip: Have a practice in pronouncing the 2 vowels separately and then rolling the sounds together.

  Are        there      three       or         two

Macrons – Tohu Tō
Macrons lengthen the sound of the vowel.

Tip = just draw out the vowel sound a little longer

A = are (say it quick è the sound is 0.1 second long)
Ā = are (say it slow è the sound is 1 second long)
