All but two of the newly selected trainees (SET 0) gathered in Whangarei for their first training weekend of the next 5 years. Thanks to all involved for making it such a success, particularly the local faculty particularly Margy Pohl for convening and hosting us for dinner on Saturday night with Harry the gorgous wee fluffy owner of the home pictured in the photo at the front.
The programme was very full with the group hearing from Ken Te Tau and Danny de Lore on cultural safety, followed by case based forums on: How I take History and Examine a Shoulder? How I take History and Examine a Knee? How I take History and examine a Spine? Pelvic/acetabular trauma, and some practical hands on with Femoral distractor/traction/halo/ex fix.
Sundays presentation by Kelly Vince on the fundamentals for primary knee replacement surgery started the day of patient clinical sessions. We ended with how to thrive as a trainee/must knows then an afternoon of surfing followed by dinner hosted at Margy and Pedro's.
