The Knee Society meeting convened by Simon Young was a 1.5 day event with 56 delegates
(plus industry partners) exploring the theme 'Technological advances in knee; what’s next?'
The first speaker was Dr Martin Roche, an international leader in robotic and sensor-assisted knee surgery practicing in Florida, USA. Dr Roche presented
'Optimising Alignment and Balance across Phenotypes in Total Knee Arthroplasty'
The programme featured sessions on the latest advancements in knee arthroplasty, ligament reconstruction, and non-operative management of knee injuries, that are influencing how we approach knee pathology today. Presentations included topics such as 'How I harvest a quadriceps graft', 'Managing multi ligament knee injuries in 2024' and 'Time off work and ARTPs in knee surgery with ACC'

That evening the Society Dinner was at Nga Motu Golf Club & then day two started with partial knee and osteotomies & another excellent presentation by Dr Roche on
'Innovation and Commercialisation in Orthopaedics'

Presentations moved to discussing case sessions before the meeting closed at midday in time for the Sunday Sports programme

The primary Sarcoma Society meeting was held in Auckland, 30 August. Registration for this additional half day event convened by Mike Flint was open to all orthopaedic surgeons & focused on offering instructional course lectures with local sarcoma faculty. The theme was 'An update on orthopaedic tumours – Tips and Tricks to Stay Out of Trouble' 17 delegates had registered...but 30 turned up!
