Monday 16 September NZHFR hosted the 5th Hip Festival at the Distinction Hotel in Christchurch.
This was the biggest NZ event to date with 100 attendees!
The theme was “Emerging Challenges in Hip Fracture Care” and Hipfests are a great opportunity for everyone involved in hip care to learn, celebrate achievements, network and share the great work we do with our patients following a hip fracture - plus discuss how we can further improve future patient outcomes. As a bonus... attendance is FREE!
Golden Hip awards recognise top performers in hip fracture care measured against the clinical care standards from Australia and New Zealand.
And here's the NZ 2024 finalists...
Congratulations go to....
Taranaki Base Hospital wins the NZ Golden Hip Award for Most Improved Performance
and to North Shore Hospital for winning (again) the NZ Golden Hip Award for Best Overall Performance
The Hipfest coincided with Malnutrition Week ANZ & dietitian Emma Cummack from Christchurch Hospital highlighted the importance of diagnosing and preventing malnutrition as a key part of quality hip fracture care. More information & resources at THIS LINK
The ANZHFR Annual Report was hot off the press just in time for the meeting.

This is the perfect opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to all contributing hospitals for their diligence and hard work in data entry & submissions.
We hope sites value the registry information as a handy tool for examining their own hospital's performance against the clinical care standard, identifying areas of high-quality care and also for determining areas where improvements can be undertaken.
